A luggage suitcase is a faithful companion of people who travel a lot or travel on business trips. Here are just a cloth, leather and plastic travel bags (especially budget models) are afraid of "extreme" conditions of transportation.
Fabric-based suitcases (such as polyester, nylon and polyamide) are easy to cut and can tear at the most inopportune moment. Plastic products that are made of polycarbonate, polypropylene and other materials are often prone to scratches and may even crack.
Genuine leather travel bags appeal with a stylish look and durability, but are expensive. The best option is a luggage bag made of plywood, which has an attractive design and is resistant to mechanical damage. And you can do it yourself.
Materials and milestones
To make a roomy and at the same time quite compact luggage suitcase made of wood, plywood 8 mm thick is required. First, we cut a strip of the desired length and width from the plywood sheet, make deep transverse cuts in the central part, then wet the surface with water and bend the blank in the shape of the letter “U”.
Next, glue the bottom and walls. After the glue dries, we cut the resulting workpiece lengthwise to get two elements: the luggage compartment and the lid. At the next stage, we strengthen the bottom and fasten the wheels, which can also be made of plywood.
We install a retractable telescopic handle (can be removed from the old suitcase), and also attach two leather handles to the side and top. Using the piano loop, we connect the luggage compartment with a hinged lid and fasten the metal latches. See the video on our website for the step-by-step process of assembling a travel suitcase.
