Not everyone in the home workshop or garage has a metal workbench on which you can install a powerful vice, and a regular wooden table is not always suitable for this purpose. Therefore, the optimal solution in this situation would be to use a metal vertical stand with a rotatable round base for a vice, which can be done with your own hands from available materials.

The process of manufacturing a rack with a vise

First of all, at the edges of a steel disk of a suitable diameter, two through holes for mounting will need to be drilled. Since the metal is thick, it is advisable to do this in several approaches - first drill a hole with a drill of small diameter, and then a larger one.

A channel section and two plates will also be required. Three workpieces need to be welded together to form a rectangular “box”. After that, the channel is welded to the disk, and to it (approximately in the middle) two "paired" large nuts into which the stud is screwed.

Then, from three segments of the steel plate, a box is welded, which is worn on top of the disk and fixed by welding so that there is a small gap between the channel and the inner surface of the plates. At the next stage, a vise is made and attached to the disk. A sleeve is welded to the movable part, into which the pin is screwed, and a handle for the vice is made.

At the last stage of work, sponges with large notches are made from the plates, which are screwed to the inner clamping part of the vise using bolts. And then the vertical stand itself is made of the pipe. You can see the step-by-step process of making homemade vices in the video on the site.
