To enjoy the real taste of aromatic hot wine and keep warm in cold weather, it is not necessary to visit expensive restaurants or other pubs. Making mulled wine at home is not at all difficult if you adhere to the correct cooking technology.

Ingredients and recommendations

To prepare the classic version of mulled wine with a unique refined taste, you will need the following set of products:

  • dry red wine - 250 ml;
  • water - 50 ml;
  • nutmeg - to taste;
  • star anise - 1 star;
  • ground ginger - 1 teaspoon;
  • an apple - a couple of slices;
  • honey - 1 tsp;
  • citrus zest - to taste;
  • cardamom - 1-2 pieces;
  • dry cloves - a few buds;
  • allspice - 2-3 pieces;
  • cinnamon - 1 stick.

It is recommended to use exclusively natural spices, which will saturate the hot drink with a divine aroma and convey all their taste, while ground spices will turn mulled wine into a “porridge”.

Cooking technology

First you need to put water on the fire, throw a set of spices, bring everything to a boil and leave for 10 minutes. Sliced apple and zest of citrus fruits (orange and lemon) are poured with red dry wine and put on a small fire - it is necessary to warm the drink to 70-80 degrees. It is not recommended to boil wine, since alcohol will begin to evaporate, which will make mulled wine completely tasteless.

After this, the infused spice broth is poured into hot wine and covered with a lid for 3-5 minutes. In a glass, put a spoonful of honey, pour "rested" wine through a fine strainer and mix well. Decorate with an orange slice.
