It should be noted that the technology itself to restore the appearance of the leather steering wheel braid is not only easy to implement, but also affordable. The issue price is about 200-300 rubles.
The first step is to wash the steering wheel with an ordinary kitchen sponge and dishwashing detergent (in this case, the author uses Fairy).
This procedure allows you to remove dirt and grease from the surface of the skin. Then wipe with a dry cloth. In this case, all the scuffs and bald patches on the leather steering wheel braid are manifested.
The main stages of work
The next step is to dry the steering wheel well with a hairdryer. Then we glue the central part with masking tape.
Next, you will need an anti-silicone or solvent, which is designed to degrease the surface before painting. Degrease the surface of the steering wheel leather braid.
After that we apply universal aerosol soil to problem areas on the surface of the steering wheel. Apply it in several layers, allowing each new layer to dry.
Then, with a fine emery cloth, it will be necessary to grind the steering wheel so that the surface becomes smooth and there are no "transitions" in places of bald patches.
At the last stage, with the help of a “swab” (a foam roller from a small roller), the author uniformly applies black matte paint to the skin.
