If you don’t have a practical holder for the tap in your workshop or garage (for example, it’s broken), then you can easily and quickly do it yourself from available materials at hand.
Using this home-made holder, it will be much more convenient to cut the internal thread, while the design of this device allows you to quickly install taps of different sizes. In general, working with such a holder is a pleasure.
The main stages of work
Using a grinder, we cut two identical pieces of steel about 7-8 cm long from the steel square (it makes no sense to do more). Then we lay the blanks on top of each other with a small overlap, fasten them with tape or masking tape, and drill two holes into them.
At the next stage, we cut the threads in the holes, after which we connect both parts together, but with the help of bolts. In the center of the device, we drill one hole, then we disassemble everything again to further process it with a file of a triangular shape.
To work with such a homemade holder is very simple - first we loosen the bolts, then insert the tap into the hole and clamp again. Now you can get to work. Due to the presence of long handles, cutting threads in different metal blanks is not difficult.
