This device is slightly different from the traditional mill, which grinds grain into flour - in contrast to this, this home-made unit only cleans cereals (rice, buckwheat, millet and other crops). First, cereals are peeled from large husks. Then the shell in which the grain is “wrapped” is removed.

You can make a simple device for cleaning cereals for home use from an emery machine, which in this case acts as an electric drive. You will also need to make wooden millstones with notches.

The main stages of work

First of all, it is necessary to cut two circles from a board 50 mm thick, from which millstones will be made for cleaning cereal crops. After we cut out the circles of the desired diameter, mark the surface and use a grinder to make notches with a depth of 1-2 mm. Holes are drilled in the center with a pen drill.

One circle is mounted on an electric motor shaft, the second is screwed onto a support column assembled from wooden blocks on screws and is motionless. It comes close (with a gap of several millimeters) to a rotating millstone.

A piece of plastic pipe with a corner is inserted into the hole of the stationary circle on the emery, and into it is a grain receiver in the form of a funnel made of a plastic bottle. A casing is made of stainless steel or galvanized sheet metal so that the husk does not fly apart. The step-by-step process of assembling this device, see the video on the site.
