With this simple home-made tool, you can bend soft steel, copper or aluminum wire onto hooks or give it a zigzag shape. As a basis for homemade work, you can use round-nose pliers or long-nose pliers, and you also need two small pieces of steel pipes of different diameters.
First of all, we make the sponges of a hand tool. To do this, cut two pieces 3-4 cm long from a pipe with a diameter of 30 mm and 40 mm, each of which must be cut lengthwise into two halves. Then the resulting steel "grooves" are welded to the ends of the long-nose pliers.
The main stages of work
Previously, the tool sponges must be treated with the grinding disc of the grinder. A piece of pipe of a smaller diameter is welded to the lower lip and a larger one to the upper. To make the welding seam more accurate, it is better to use semi-automatic welding, which is performed in a shielding gas environment.
After we welded the “grooves” to the lips of the long-nose pliers, we process the surface using an angle grinder. Now the manual tool for bending soft wire is fully operational. It is perfect for steel wire made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
We insert a soft wire between the jaws and press. Working with such a tool is very simple and convenient. More details about the manufacture, as well as the use of this home-made device can be seen in the video on our website.
