Using a homemade metal brush, you can clean the surface of metal products from dirt and rust. Of course, such a brush can be bought at any hardware store (and it’s not expensive at all), but working in a garage or a workshop with a do-it-yourself tool is much more pleasant.

Manufacturing process

As a base, you can use any wooden block of suitable sizes. In the upper part of the workpiece, 18 holes must be marked (ideally, three columns of six rows), and drilled through them with a drill on a tree of small diameter.
From the remaining part of the wooden block, you will need to make a handle by treating the workpiece with a file or a grinding wheel (as you prefer). It is also advisable to walk a couple of times with fine sandpaper so that the handle is smoother.

At the next stage of work, it will be necessary to prepare nine pieces of steel braided wire (you can take, for example, from a steel cable) and thread them through the holes - one segment into two holes. After that, it is necessary to close the back of the brush with a steel plate cut from a galvanized sheet.

The plate must be nailed with small nails, and its sharp corners and edges should be well treated with a grinder. The ends of the steel wire need to be slightly loosened with pliers so that they become more magnificent. That's all - the tool is completely ready for work. And its cost is even less than that of metal brushes, which are sold in stores and in the market.
