If you need to make a large number of semicircular billets from a steel square (for example, a cross-section of 10 mm), you can use a factory or homemade tire bender. However, in this case it will be difficult to make all products the same in radius. And the process itself will take a lot of time.
To simplify the task and accelerate the progress of work, you can make a simple device from shaped pipes and other materials at hand. You can make such a mini-machine within 1.5-2 hours. The design itself is quite simple, so everyone can make such a device.
The main stages of work
We cut two workpieces from a profile pipe with sides 40x40 mm: 40 cm and 22 cm long. Then we weld a long and a short segment between themselves at an angle of 90 degrees to get a T-shaped part. Places welds well cleaned with a grinder.
From a steel strip of 20 mm, we cut two identical workpieces 40 cm long. Then we drill through holes in the pipe and plates. We also make a semicircular conductor from the twentieth strip. Additionally, it will be necessary to make a stop from a 4 mm plate in order to minimize the load on the conductor itself during operation.
