It is very easy to make Japanese from an ordinary hacksaw for wood. You only need to make a new handle, and the tool will be ready to work. Why do you need to redo the usual hacksaw in Japanese? First of all - for a more convenient and efficient sawing.

In classical sawing using a conventional hacksaw, the teeth “bite” into the body of the workpiece only when moving forward. In the case of the Japanese saw, sawing occurs due to movement on oneself.

If you use, for example, a hacksaw on a tree on which there is no specific direction of the tooth, then in this case you can saw the workpiece both on yourself and on your own. Thus, sawing is twice as effective. In addition, when moving toward itself, the hacksaw guides itself - the cut is more even and clean.

The main stages of work

First of all, you need to grind a round handle of the desired diameter on a lathe. Alternatively, you can also use a piece of cuttings from a shovel or other garden tool. We find the center and make a cut of the required depth for the hacksaw.

After that, we drill two through holes in the handle and the saw blade itself. Under the nuts we make a recess with a feather drill. For drilling a hot saw blade, it is necessary to use carbide drills for metal.

At the last stage, we connect the handle to the canvas itself, and we get a tool completely ready for work. The handle can be coated with a clear varnish or mineral oil. For details on how to make Japanese from an ordinary hacksaw for wood, see the video on our website.
