An impact screwdriver is used to loosen tightly “welded” bolts and screws. This useful hand tool can be bought at any hardware store. But if you like to do everything with your own hands, then such an impact screwdriver can be made independently from improvised materials.

The principle of operation of an impact screwdriver is very simple: the impact force is converted to torque, as a result of which you can easily unscrew even the most “stubborn” bolts and screws that are not amenable to a conventional screwdriver.

In this case, the master uses an old drill with a diameter of 16 mm as a basis, which is ideal for this homemade product. Also for this homemade product you will need a piece of pipe with a diameter of ½ inch, two balls from the bearing, a spring and an M16 bolt.

The main stages of work

First of all, it will be necessary to cut a piece of a half-inch pipe with a length of 170 mm. Further, stepping back from the edge of the pipe 15 mm, you need to drill a through hole with a drill with a diameter of 10 mm. The master inserts two balls from the bearing into the drilled holes.

To prevent the balls from falling out of the "seat socket", a piece of pipe ¾ 20 mm long must be put on the half-inch pipe (that is, a kind of retaining ring is obtained).

To put the ring on the pipe, you will first need to make it cut in the grinder on the weld. It is also necessary to drill two holes on the sides.

At the last stage, in the shank of the drill cuts a square under the end heads, after which you can proceed to the final assembly of the device.

Details on how to make an impact screwdriver from an old drill with your own hands can be found in the video on the website.
