In this review, the author decided to make a crucible for melting aluminum at home from a piece of metal pipe with a diameter of 145 mm with a wall thickness of 6 mm.

If you are engaged in the smelting of aluminum and the manufacture of various products from it, the crucible will definitely come in handy. By the way, we want to recommend a review of how to make an aluminum hammer ax, which is available at this link.

The first step is to cut off a piece of pipe of the desired diameter. The author decided to try to do this on a lathe, but this method is unsafe. Therefore, it is better to cut with a grinder or on a cutting machine.

The main stages of work

Next, from a plate with a thickness of 6-8 mm, you need to cut a disk, which is then welded to the bottom of the crucible. It will be the bottom. Moreover, the diameter of the disk should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the pipe so that you can properly scald.

Then it remains only to weld the handles on the sides and the nut in the lower part of the crucible - these are “hooks” for the poker. It will also be necessary to weld the beak. The author cleans the welds with a grinder.
