A warm floor in a private house is an excellent element of comfort. Also, this system really allows you to save on heating. In this review, the author shares his own experience on how to make a warm floor in the house with your own hands.

The author will not produce a rough concrete substrate, but decided to put the entire underfloor heating system directly on the ground. This installation method has a right to exist.

Before you start making a warm floor, you need to finish all the wiring of communication in the ground. In this case, it is the input of water into the house and the sewage system.

Preparing for the installation of a warm floor

When the wiring of water and sewer pipes in the house is completely finished, it will be necessary to isolate the warm floor from the ground using sheets of extruded polystyrene foam 50 mm thick.

Styrofoam sheets are laid directly on the ground through a thin layer of sand. The soil will first need to be compacted and leveled to the level of the foundation.

The concrete slab of the warm floor should be able to expand and contract freely when heated and cooled. To do this, many lay along the perimeter a damper tape made of foamed polyethylene.

However, in this case, the author decided to use white foam of low density for these needs. We cut the foam strips 2 cm thick and glue them around the perimeter using glue foam.

A metal reinforcing mesh with a mesh size of 100x100 millimeters and a rod diameter of 3 millimeters is laid on top of the extruded polystyrene foam.

In this case, the mesh additionally reinforces the concrete, and is also the basis for fixing the underfloor heating pipe.

The main stages of work

Concrete will be heated with a coolant pipe. In fact, it is part of a water heating system. When choosing a step between the pipes, you must be guided by the heat loss at home.

In this case, the author puts the pipe in increments of 30 cm, it took 100 linear meters to the floor and two kilowatts of thermal power can be obtained from them.

Since the thickness of the concrete floor is 10 cm, it makes sense to additionally reinforce with the help of rods of reinforcement with a diameter of 8 millimeters, which are laid on top of the pipes.

At the next stage we set up the beacons and you can start pouring concrete. The composition of concrete includes cement M400, sand and gravel, as well as a special plasticizer for underfloor heating.
