Needlework box

Even of the simplest things that we do not pay attention to, we consider garbage, you can do something worthwhile, unlike anything else. If, for example, you connect an ordinary cardboard box, which was already going on a trip to the trash can, with a jute rope and old lace, then a pretty box for needlework could come out. Weaving with jute twine is so simple that in 2 minutes you can master it.

To create such a box, we need:

  • - jute rope (somewhere 3 mm thick);
  • - a cardboard box of a suitable size;
  • - scissors;
  • - lace (its length should be equal to the perimeter of the box);
  • - Crochet hook;
  • - large sharp scissors.

Hand-made boxes are made like this:

1. We make cuts on the sides of our box. When incised, strips of 1.5 cm thick should be obtained. You should not make an incision exactly on the corner. It should be cut to the bottom.

2. The resulting strips are cut a little more on the sides, so that between them a gap of 5-6 millimeters is obtained.

3. Tie a thread to the corner strip. This will be the beginning of our weaving.

4. Pass the thread round so that the thread passes alternately in front or behind the strips. After passing the first round of jute, the next row should begin. Now, where the thread passed in front, it should go behind, and where the jute was threaded from behind, we skip in front.

5. We do the necessary number of rows with this alternation. Each next row is carefully lowered manually down so that the jute rows fit snugly on top of each other.

6. Now we fix the edge of the lace, clamping it between the strips in the corner. We glue it.
7. Fix glue lace around the perimeter.
8. Cut the strips evenly, leaving 0.8 mm of free edge.
9. We tie the bottom edge of the box in order to close the cardboard pieces that peek from the bottom. To do this, we simply knit the loops in random order, cling to the bottom row of jute with loops. Such chaotic knitting only gives beauty to the product.
10. To close the top row we knit a strip of jute. It should consist of single crochet posts. In one row there should be 4 single crochet. You can do more columns. The thickness of the strip should be enough for us to gently close the top edge of the box. The length of the strip should be such that it is enough to close the paper strips.

11. You can line the inside of the box with a cloth, or you can leave it in its original form.
12. DIY DIY box ready!
